How it works

THE PROCESS

Step 1: Let’s get to know each other!

Before we get started it’s important to get to know each other a bit to see if we are the right fit for each other. We can schedule a call, online chat or video conference, or communicate through email. Whatever works best for you.

We will use this time to discuss the details of what you need and who your business serves. I will be looking for a little insight into who you are, who you serve, and what you need from your website. I’m also here to answer any questions you may have, so fire away!

Step 2: Proposal, Contract, & Payments.

After our conversation I will do a little research on how I can best help you achieve your goals. Once my research is complete I will send you a proposal outlining the basic details of your web design such as how many pages your website will include, feature options to consider, and some of the strategy I will use to help you grow. I will also include a contract for you sign, if you decide to proceed.

If you decide you are ready to jump in, you can sign the contract and I will then send you an invoice. Once the invoice is paid, I will send you a welcome package that includes your homework. Hurray!

Step 3: Do Your Homework!

After you have signed the contract and paid the initial invoice, you will have a bit of work to do.

This is the most important step!

My homework package is thorough and extensive, and will require a bit of a time commitment from you to complete, but I promise it will be worth it!

We will dig deep into who you are, your business goals, who you serve & the message you want to share with to your audience. This is at the heart of what helps your business to grow. I urge you to complete your homework thoughtfully and thoroughly. There is no such thing as too long of an answer. The more details I have to work with, the better I can help!

Your welcome package will also include detailed steps that you need to take to get ready for your website design. This includes purchasing your domain name, hosting platform, and security package and providing me with the details I need to get started.

After I receive the completed homework package, you can relax knowing that I have all the details that I need to get to work creating your website.

Step 4: Research, Strategy & Design.

Now it’s my time to shine! I will dig in to your homework package and start researching the best strategies, marketing approach, and design elements needed for your website. Before I start building I will research your target audience and SEO keywords so that things are built properly from the ground up.

Step 5: Revisions & Approval.

As I work on your designs I will send you periodic updates for you to view, suggest changes, and approve. Every change will be easy to view through Trello or on my staging website. Once all the designs have been approved and finalized we will move into the final stage.

This stage can vary in length depending on the complexity of your website.

Step 6: Finishing Up.

Woo hoo!! We are almost ready to launch!

Once all of the designs have been finalized and approved I will send you the final invoice. Once the invoice has been paid I will launch your website and make it live! I will then send a closing package that includes your design elements, website user guide, and closing contract.

At this stage you can choose continue to work with me on retainer with a website maintenance package or fully close out and continue on your own with my easy-to-use website design and complete user guide.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where are your prices?

Each project is special, so I tailor my prices and designs according to the needs of my clients. That’s why instead of offering packages with set prices, I create custom solutions based on your unique needs & skill level. Most minimum investments start around $1500 – $2500 for a simple website and go up according to your website complexity. Working with a small budget? No problem! I can often create simple designs to fit your goals and budget. Reach out and let’s discuss options!

Are there payment options available?

Yes! While you do save money when paying in full, I make it easy to afford with simple payment plans.
Payment plans can be set to different intervals based upon your project timeline.

A minimum of 1/3 of your total project cost is required up front to secure your spot on my calendar.
The second payment is due about half of the way through.
The third and final payment is due before your final project is released to you.

For very long and complicated builds, we can set milestones at different intervals that work for you.

For shorter projects we can do two payments, one at the beginning and one at the end. I’m very flexible, and am here to make things work for you.

What about smaller projects?

For smaller design projects such as logo creation, social media templates, or graphic design for print, etc. payments are expected to be paid in full before work commences. All deliverable services will have multiple rounds of revisions before your final approval.

Do you have a return policy?

Unfortunately, not really.
Do to the nature of design and development projects there are no refunds once the project has begun. Please make sure that you are committed to your project before signing the contract and paying your initial deposit. I spend a lot of time researching, designing, and developing and pour my heart into all the work that I do. Because of the time spent on your project, I can’t offer refunds as I can’t get that time back to work on other projects. All initial deposits are non-refundable.

In extreme circumstances, you may apply to cancel your contract.
Under those special circumstances, I may decide to keep your initial deposit as payment for work already done, but cancel all subsequent payments and dissolve the contract if you can no longer continue with the project.
Cancellations will only be accepted on a case-by-case basis.

When should I book?

As soon as possible!
Projects run in weekly increments and I can be booked months in advance. I dedicate all my time and energy to one client at a time to provide a true one-on-one tailored experience. You should try to book your start date based on your availability to complete your required homework and based on a payment schedule that works for you.
Please make sure to do your homework!
If your homework is not completed by the project start date you may forfeit your spot and be moved to the back of the queue. Don’t worry though I will give you plenty of time to complete it, and I’m always here to help if you are stuck or have any questions!

I gratefully acknowledge that I live, work and create on the unceded traditional lands of the Secwépemc Nation.
